My Manifesto was inspired by Gretchen Rubin’s work, specifically with regards to her books; The Happiness Project, Better Than Before, and Happier at Home. She’s a New York Times Best Selling Author and I highly recommend her work as something to consider if you’re interested in self-reflection and important research in the areas of happiness and habits.
I wrote to her directly in January 2017 to ask her about how I could apply a ‘Happiness Project’ to what I was going through. She responded and completely inspired me to use her research and online guides to make her approach fit with what I was going through. Thus, a Manifesto began to form. I have thought about the following list so many times. Words and themes come to me as I’m taking a walk with our pup leading me through the trails of our suburban neighborhood…they come to me when I’m talking with my people. Often they visit me in my dreams and I hear them as I type words on my keyboard. They are a culmination of wisdom from my own personal experiences and observations, as well as from research in the areas of infertility, happiness, habits, vulnerability, parenthood, and creative living.
